This year I was thrilled to take my family to our first Pride Parade. I made the children shirts that said “Love is Love” because that is what we teach in our house. All people deserve to love who their heart desires.

One of the first things I was genuinely surprised about was just how many churches in the community showed up to support our LGBTQ+ community. I thought it was an absolutely beautiful show of respect and of what God’s love is really about.
In addition to all the churches (and I didn’t even get to shoot all of them) there were several large corporations that came out in support of Pride.
There were local politicians and local companies that came out, as well. New Mexico is not the state I thought it was, it is much more! This Pride Parade showed me how amazing New Mexicans are.
I cannot impress on people enough how little it takes to be kind to others. You don’t have to *get* what they are going through, you just have to extend your hand in friendship and be there. We have come so far as a society that these issues should not be issues anymore. Our world is growing and changing, and our country should be excited for the changes. There are absolutely zero things wrong with the LGBTQ+ Community. They practice what so many of us practice in our homes – Love.
